14. Duke Cannon Big Bourbon Beard Oil

Our rating: 4.6
Scent: Oak barrel
Dispenser: Restrictor cap
Size: 3 ounce

Duke Cannon has some of the best branding in men’s grooming. This beard oil has a nice scent that we love. It is lower on our list for a couple of reasons. It has bourbon in it for starters. While this sounds cool, it is gimmicky. There is no real benefit to your beard by adding bourbon. It is also the last ingredient, so it is likely a miniscule amount anyway.

It also has hydrated silica. This is not exactly detrimental, but it is not necessary at all.

Ingredients:Apricot Kernel Oil, Oak Moss Fragrance, *Jojoba Oil, *Argan Oil, Hydrated Silica, Mixed Tocopherols, *Rosemary Extract, *Calendula Extract, Buffalo Trace Bourbon.

Pros:

  • Great branding
  • Good scent

Cons:

  • No smaller sizes
  • Expensive

15. Fable Beard Oil The Distiller

Fable beard oil

Our rating: 4.7
Scent: Vanilla, Bourbon, Spices
Dispenser:
Size: 1 ounce

If you love a good story with your beard products, then you have to start buying Fable Beard Co. Think of cosplay and roleplaying etc. Now, if you are not into that, no big deal because their beard products are high quality. They stand on their own without the adding marketing. Even if it was called Mr. Billies Supreme Beard Stuff, we would still buy it.

They know how to make a great beard oil that coats and moisturizes your facial hair. They also have some amazing scents. We settled on The Distiller for our list.

Ingredients:Castor oil, Coconut oil, Sweet Almond oil, Argan oil, Jojoba oil, fragrance

Pros:

  • Replacement guarantee

Cons:

  • Uses synthetic fragrance

16. Bulldog Beard Oil

Bulldog beard oil

Our rating: 4.5

Bulldog is another cheap beard oil. Even though it is low cost, they do not skimp on the ingredients. This is designed to soften your beard and to condition.

17. Tom Ford Oud Wood Beard Oil

Tom Ford Beard oil

Our rating: 4.5
Scent: Oud, woods
Dispenser: Pump
Size: 1 ounce

Tom Ford is well known in perfumery, and yes, they make a beard oil. Similar to the Le Labo oil, this seems like Tom Ford added their Oud Wood fragrance to a couple of carrier oils.

The scent is great, and Oud Wood is one of their better selling scents. The beard oil part leaves a little to be desired though. It is only almond oil and grapeseed oil mixed together. To me, you buy this for the scent. There are far better blends on our list, but none come as close to smelling like a high end fragrance like this one.

The cost is what is going to deter you from getting this one unless you collect Tom Ford fragrances.

Ingredients:Almond oil, Grapeseed oil, Vitamin E, fragrance

Pros:

  • Cologne scented beard oil

Cons:

  • Expensive
  • Only 2 carrier oils

18. Le Labo Beard Oil

Le Labo beard oil

Our rating: 4.3
Scent: Bergamot, Lavender, Tonka bean
Dispenser: Open bottle
Size: 2 ounce

Le Labo beard oil is a luxury product for your beard. You are going to typically pay over $60 for a 2 ounce bottle. This is around $50 more than your average bottle cost. You do have to remember that this is being released from a Niche fragrance house in New York.

The feel in beard is nice, and it does a good job of hydrating your facial hair. It does seem like some carrier oils were blended together and some expensive cologne was added. If you are a fragrance collector and have a beard, then this is a great choice for you.

Ingredients:Sunflower oil, Grapeseed oil, Jojoba oil

Pros:

  • Nice cologne scent

Cons:

  • Expensive
  • Not the best feel in beard

How To Choose The Best Beard Oil For You

There are so many beard care products to choose from. This is especially true in the world of beard oils. There are so many choices, and it can be difficult to determine which one is right for your beard. Here are some ??? to consider when buying a beard oil.

Price Per Ounce

This may be obvious, but there are beard oils that range from $5 to over $50 a bottle. You need to set a budget that you are comfortable with. It is important to understand how much you are paying per ounce. Most beard oil comes in a 1 ounce bottle, but others come in larger sizes. Make sure to check the size of the bottle that you are interested in. As an example, Duke Cannon beard oil is $30 which puts it on the expensive end. However, their oil comes in a large 3 ounce size. So, it is only $10 per ounce, which is inexpensive. Even though the cost per ounce is low, you still need to decide if you like forking over that much money for one bottle.

Scent

You also need to decide if you want a scented beard oil or unscented. Personally, I prefer scented options. While unscented beard oils do not have fragrance or essential oils in them, there is still the natural smell of the carrier oils. Some brands smell worse than others.

If you decide on scent, you need to determine if you want a natural scent or synthetic. A natural scented beard oil will use essential oils like Clove, Orange, Fir, etc. Some guys do not like to apply synthetic fragrance oils on their beards. That is a personal decision for you. Personally, I always lean towards a beard oil that uses essential oils.

Dispenser

This may sound trivial, but some bearded guys are particular when it comes to using beard oil.

Here are 4 ways to dispense beard oil from the bottle:

  • Dropper
  • Pump
  • Orifice Reducer / Restrictor
  • Open Bottle

If the product uses a dropper, it is easy to put the exact amount in your palm, drop by drop. A pump is a little more difficult because it can produce different amounts based on how hard and how long you pump the top.

An orifice reducer is a little plastic stopper with a tiny hole in it. You simply shake the bottle and a small amount will come out. The last option is an open bottle. You will rarely see a beard oil without some type of dropper or restrictor cap.

Beard Product Company

Branding and marketing can play a big role in how you choose a beard care product like beard oil. Often, guys will end up getting multiple products for their beard. As an example, I may use a beard oil and a beard butter on the same day. If I want the scents to match, I need to find a company that offers a quality oil and butter for me to use.

Let’s be honest, branding plays a huge role in which beard oil you choose. Nobody wants a ugly bottle with terrible graphics and logos sitting on their counter. Having said that, branding can only take you so far. You still have to product quality products.

How To Apply Beard Oil

To apply beard oil, you will need to add about 8 drops of oil to your hand. After that, then rub your hands together to coat them with beard oil. Rub your hands all through your beard and mustache. Make sure you get everywhere on your face and neck. Be sure to get the oil on the skin underneath your beard. This will help with beard itch and beard dandruff.

After you have applied beard oil to your face, use a beard comb or beard brush.

How Often Should I Use Beard Oil?

You can use beard oil everyday if you need it. Daily use will keep your beard moisturized and hydrated. This will help to relieve itchy beard. It will also prevent you from getting a brittle beard or flakes in your beard hair.

Does Beard Oil Actually Work?

Yes, beard oil will work to keep your facial hair hydrated. It will not make you grow new beard hairs though. Beard oils contain many beneficial vitamins and antioxidants that will promote healthy facial hair growth.

How We Tested The Products

We buy a lot of beard products. We run a website dedicated to helping bearded men, so we have to. Also, beard product companies send us products to review. For this list, no free product was given to us. You do not have to worry that we rated someone’s beard oil high because they gave us free bottles.

We typically wear them in our beards like we normally do when we are not testing. Each scent was worn at least 3 days to determine quality.
